Alignment with the Stars

Various ancient structures such as those in Egypt, Mexico, and Angkor Wat, seem to be coordinated to specific star constellations. Author, lecturer and ancient Egypt researcher Robert Bauval's "Orion Correlation Theory" (robertbauval.co.uk) is based on his assumption that the three large pyramids at the Giza plateau of Egypt, are conclusively matching three specific stars from the belt of the star constellation of Orion: Alnitak, Alnilam en MintakaFurthermore, two of the other stars of Orion also seem to match with the destroyed site in Abu Rawash and the pyramid in Zawjet Al Arjan.

The Nile river would be seen as the image of the Milky Way. When we "turn back time" using a computer simulation (that is able to calculate the movement and position of the stars) we will see that the position of Orion's belt stars and the Milky Way matches the time frame as early as 10,500 BC; Then the night sky would have appeared as rotated upside down, and the Milky Way would have been seen further in the east. Robert Bauval also discovered that the date of 10,500 BC also matches with the time when the Great Sphinx of Giza was gazing at the constellation of Leo in the heavens.

Explorer and author Andrew Collins has another vision about the alignment of Egypt to the stars. According to him, the pyramids at Giza (and other ancient megalith sites) are aligned not with the star constellation of Orion, but with the star constellation of Cygnus instead. The argument is that Orion does not match exactly with the pyramids on the ground and that Cygnus makes a better fit. However, Cygnus matches only reasonably in present day, but the match is rather poor when compared to the night sky of hundreds of years ago.

Orion
Constellation of Orion/Osiris

Author Wayne Herschel (thehiddenrecords.com) took this idea somewhat further, expanded the ‘mapping of the heavens’ idea substantially and managed to align in the order of 30 or more pyramids in Egypt with corresponding visible stars in the heavens. Herschel is convinced that Abu Rawash represents the star Sirius, the Giza plateau represents Orion, Abu-sir would present the Pleiades, and Sakkara would present Andromeda.

The time period of 10,500 BC coincides with the timeframe when both the Great Pyramid and the Great Sphinx had been build, according to psychic intuitives like Edgar Cayce, Dr. Cottrell and Daan Akkerman. These intuitives never claimed that the other Giza pyramids were build during that timeframe. As Egyptologists claim, these other piramids must had been build roughly around 2500 BC by the sons of the pharaoh Khufu: Khafre, Menkaure and Djedefre.

Why would they have build their pyramids at specific locations in a way that they mirrored the stars of Orion? Well, fact is that the constellation of Orion was identified with Osiris (one of their most important gods), and they saw the constellation as an image of Osiris in the night sky. The Osiris myth in short:

The myth described Osiris as having been killed by his brother Seth, who wanted Osiris' throne. Seth cut his body in fourtheen pieces which he dispersed in the swamps. Osiris' wife Isis found and joined the fragmented pieces of Osiris after a long quest, but the only body part missing was the phallus. Isis fashioned a golden phallus, and briefly brought Osiris back to life by use of a spell that she learned from her father. This spell gave her time to become pregnant by Osiris before he again died. From the seed of Osiris, Isis later gave birth to a son that was called Horus.

Could the Osris myth have a deeper meaning? Could it perhaps have been an analogy or could it bear some kind of hidden message or esoteric knowledge?
Hermes Trismegistus, a mythical sage, was the Greek name of Thoth: the Egyptian scribe and god of wisdom, and likely the writer of this myth. Trismegistus means "three times great"; a great philosopher, a great priest and a great king. Thoth was similarly called: "Thoth the great, great, great". Like the deceased Roman emperors would have been revered as gods after their lifetime, so Hermes also could have been revered as a god after his life. Today, Hermes is known as the mythical father of Hermetism, which would have originated from the ancient Egyptian religion, which much later also inspired other groups including the Freemasons (hence the symbol of the pyramid) and the Rosecrucians during the Renaissance, where Hermes would have been seen as a prophet. (According to the Edgar Cayce material, Hermes would have been the architect of the Great Pyramid, and the previous life incarnation of Jesus.)

Hermes Trigmegistus is best know for his quotes like: "as above, so below", in which he means that the microcosm (a small unity or "world", part of a larger one) and the macrocosm (the universe) are structured in the same manner, where the same laws apply. But what did Hermes mean with this writings from "Asclepius 21-29"?:

"Or are you ignorant, Asclepius, that Egypt is (the) image of heaven? Moreover, it is the dwelling place of heaven and all the forces that are in heaven."

Hermes seems to imply that forces of heaven (the gods) once were active in Egypt, because Egypt would be a copy of it. (As above, so below.) As Osiris had been cut into fourtheen pieces, could this be a reference to the stars in the constellation of Orion/Osiris?
Could the Osiris myth be an analogy of a certain timeframe or celestial event? Could it be that Khufu and his sons wanted to visually recreate the image of Osiris in Egypt, as if they were gathering the pieces from his body by creating pyramids. Did they try to further connect the cosmic forces of Orion/Osiris to the earth and enhance its influence, or did this merely had a symbolic religious purpose? According to certain psychic mediums and intuitives, the Egyptians once would have made contact with extraterrestrial forces/entities who they referred to as "gods". Could it be that these gods came from Orion and that they modelled the place in honor of them?

In 1998 Graham Hancock and John Grigsby also showed a suggestive correlation between the temples around Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom and the stars from the constellation of Draco. And like mentioned earlier: According to Shirley Andrews' book "Atlantis: Insights from a Lost Civilization" (2002), the building plan and orientation of the buildings at Teotihuacán were built in alignment to the rising and setting of the Pleiades.
